Please note the following with respect to competitive events:

• Be sure you fully understand your event guidelines!  Some events are a written test AND presentation, some oral events require advanced preparation while some are on the spot, and many events require attachment documents in order to compete (i. e.  a resume).  Iowa PBL follows National guidelines for event testing at SLC.  Please thoroughly read all guidelines!
• All events will mimic National guidelines with one exception – we will not have a preliminary and final round for any events.  All other guidelines are the same. This includes sending in the proper number of documents (example:  sending in several resumes for job interview).
• Again this year, we will offer State Events.  State event guidelines are attached.
• All supplementary materials (resumes, website addresses, etc) must be sent in advance if the guidelines so state.  These items will be pre-judged before SLC.  If you do not send in these documents ahead of time, you will be docked points.  Submission deadlines can be found under General Information
• According to the National guidelines, if you have competed in an event in past years, you are not allowed to compete in that event again.  While we have no way of monitoring this, we ask that you not repeat events.  Should we discover a student participating in an repeated event, they will be disqualified.
• If you have any event conflicts (i. e.  two events at the same time, you are going to be absent during an event time), please be sure to note that in your registration materials.
• When enrolling for events, please be sure you are eligible.  In some instances, students may not do an event if they are in their junior or senior year or if they have taken a specific number of classes.
• Advisers: please explicitly tell students what events they’re in and explain the guidelines.  Students: we will be sending out some info directly to you on which events you're registered for and the event guidelines for those events.  Please read your email!
